Darknight WHOAA this is heavy! It's so epic and monolithic,so diverse and beautiful at the same time. Bloodswamp have created an album of monstrous beastly audio landscapes. Favorite track: Portrait.

a_human If you recorded the sound of two Kardashev type III civilizations fighting it out on some higher dimensional plane yet unknown to modern science, and you decided to make music out of those cataclysmic vibrations, it might sound like some of the crazier moments on this record. Favorite track: Mindful-less.

It's incredibly rare to find a band that not only have their own distinct sound, but also achieve that sound on their very first record. London's Bloodswamp are one such rare gem. Their debut full length, Daylight Illuminates A Miserable World, has an extremely diverse and mature sound, which is all the more impressive when you consider that they only formed about a year ago. The balance between the sludgy Doom elements and the soaring, atmosphere soaked Black Metal flourishes that pepper this album make for an album that is in equal parts epic and monstrous, with each song proving to be a sprawling, monolithic juggernaut in it's own right. The juxtaposition between the dense, visceral side of the band's sound and the much more sublime and ambient heavy one works really well, resulting in one of the more memorable debuts by a band in recent memory.

PSA: if there was an album you heard a couple years ago and thought it was ok, listen to it again and you might love it. That's what happened to me with this album. I cannot fathom why it didn't stick with me back then. Same thing happened with Decoherence's Unitarity for that matter. Matten
